A self-regulatory body for the property profession, the IAVI has stringent entry and practice standards for the protection of the public, as well as the profession. Strict membership criteria ensure that individuals practice to the highest standard. All its members are bound by Rules of Conduct as a condition of membership.

There is an established public complaints procedure involving a Disciplinary Committee which now includes a represenative from the Law Society, IBEC and the Consumers Association.
