Free Careers Register

The IAVI provides a free careers register for graduates of approved courses and will try, where possible to help secure positions for them.
The IAVI organise two courses. A two year Higher Certificate in Property Studies course and a four year BSc Honours degree in property studies.
They are both part-time courses
They are held on fourteen Saturdays during the academic year from October to May, normally every second Saturday during term-time.
The courses are both held on the same days at the Dublin Institute of Technology, Bolton Street.
No, they are only held in Dublin.
Yes, participants on both courses must be working full-time in property related employment for the duration of the course. This is because both courses have an element of ‘work based learning’, which is assessed by means of a weekly log book, an annual report and work place visits by an assessor.
These are set out in the prospectus which is also on the website under Educational Courses.
No, but see the prospectus for the detailed requirements
Graduates of the BSc(Hons) in property studies have a degree which is awarded by the Dublin Institute of Technology and which is internationally recognised and which can provide the basis for further study, eg at Masters level.
Graduates of the Higher Certificate in Property Studies have the qualification which allows them to apply for Associate Membership of the IAVI.
In Ireland, graduates of five courses are considered to have attained the academic qualification necessary to be considered for membership. These courses are: (i) the Ordinary BSc Degree in Auctioneering, Valuation and Estate Agency at the Dublin Institute of Technology, (DIT), Bolton Street; (ii) the Honours BSc degree in Property Economics from DIT Bolton Street, (iii) the Honours BSc degree in Real Estate from Limerick Institute of Technology; (iv)the Honours BSc degree in Property Studies from the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology and (v) the Honours BSc degree in Property Investment and Development from the University of Ulster at Jordanstown.
Exemptions are only discussed AFTER Registration in the majority of cases, even if the applicant already has a degree. The only certain exemptions are (i) graduates of the Ballsbridge College of Further Education course in Estate Agency Administration are exempt from the Agency Practice module of the Residential and Land Agency Course; (ii) students who leave the DIT Bolton Street degrees, (see 10 above) after two years may enter Year 2 of the IAVI/DIT BSc(Hons) in Property Studies (provided that they are working full time in property related employment); (iii) students who obtain a Merit or Distinction in the DIT BSc in Auctioneering, Valuation and Estate Agency may enter Year 4 of the IAVI/DIT BSc (Hons) in property studies, (provided they are working full-time in property related employment); students who graduate from the same course but have not achieved a Merit or Distinction may enter Year 3 of the IAVI/DIT BSc(Hons) in Property Studies. The same applies to students from Galway-Mayo and Limerick Institutes of Technology. Advanced entry to students from other property courses may be available after discussion but is on a case by case basis.
